Now our second objective is to enhance the methylation process
This is what gets that bad homocysteine, that high homocysteine level - Methylation. What homocysteine is, it acts kind of like a sticky Velcro on the inside of the blood vessels, it forms kind of a scar, and as cholesterol and calcium passes by there they attach to this (actually trying to heal this homocysteine scar). And what will form in the process is a plaque and that narrows the opening - so that not as much blood can get through to the heart or wherever the vessels are leading to.

Now for years medicine has been lowering cholesterol but we have not seen it do to much on impacting heart disease, as a matter of fact, it is increasing - remember - in this century, and that is because cholesterol is actually trying to heal this. It is trying to help this, now with homocysteine, we have the ability to get at what is causing the build up to begin with and that is to lower the homocysteine by methylating this homocysteine. By adding a methyl group (which is a carbon and three hydrogen molecules) onto the bad homocysteine. That becomes the good amino acid called methylamine, methylamine is an amino acid that actually acts as an antioxidant.

That becomes in your body naturally SAM-e. SAM-e you may have heard of SAM-e, SAM-e has gotten a lot of media lately, and it has just recently become available in this country. SAM-e was big in Europe, SAM-e used to treat fibromyalgia all sorts of claims, natural antidepressant, but what we have had out for a while and what we prefer is to give you the nutrients which are in a product called Methylation to increase your own production of SAM-e.

We like when we can to give you the nutrients where your body can produce its own rather than taking something from an outside source you are not even sure if it can be absorbed (sometimes it is too big of a molecule to even be absorbed). So it is better that you take the nutrients and produce your own, then your own biofeedback can come in and say 'we have got enough of that and we don't need to produce any more' so you are utilizing your body to produce what it needs.

Now what SAM-e does, SAM-e is a natural anti-depressant. They actually did a study in the American Journal of psychiatry that showed that it was very effective in treating depression. Now for this study they actually took people off their anti-depressants but we don't recommend that. We recommend you can add this in addition to what you are doing and then work with your doctor if you are so inclined later to possibly wean you down.

The other thing SAM-e does, SAM-e gives methyl groups to your DNA, it gives these carbon and 3 hydrogen to your DNA, your DNA is your genetic material, it is what we pass down to our offspring in the form of the egg and the sperm. One thing that is interesting, the highest time a women's body can Methylation is in her young child bearing years, because God made us so that we can produce these healthy sperm and eggs to pass on our offspring, and we are seeing a higher incidence in older women, a higher incidence of birth defects in older women, possibly due to the changes in methylation, the methyl groups actually on the DNA.

The other thing, is this SAM-e has is an impact on aging, by increasing this you want your cells, your skin cells when they divide, to look like the skin cells did when you were young instead of aging and changing the methyl groups. SAM-e has often been called the secret of youth (actually Rice Bran Solubles also has an impact on aging because of the anti-oxidants) those all contribute to the aging of the skin.

The other thing SAM-e does is, they have actually shown in animal studies, that if they put animals on a methyl deficient diet (deficient in those methyl groups we talked about) that it actually caused cancer, and now if we supplied adequate methylation it helped prevent cancer and prolonged the life expectancy of those with cancer. So this is a great benefit for people with a family history of cancer also, but the primary design for this product was for cardiovascular disease.

This is your very best defense against heart attach and stroke - remember those are the number one and number three killers and this has a huge impact on them. Actually they did a study on what is in the Methylation product and it showed that in 100% of the people it lowered the homocysteine level.

Now, a lot of doctors that know about high homocysteine, they are telling their patients to take B vitamins.
